Welcome to Notes from JJ

Pharma data strategy, AI tooling, and side projects — no marketing fluff

Most emails in your inbox want to sell you something. This one is different. It's a weekly look behind the curtain of real pharma data systems, automated AI agents, and side projects I'm shipping — no marketing fluff, just the engineering configurations that actually get work done.

I've spent the last 15+ years in the data trenches — architecting ETL pipelines, Delta Lakes, and cloud data warehouses for pharma commercial teams. But when I'm not designing reporting environments for product launches, I build side projects.

This newsletter is where those two worlds collide: pharma data strategy, terminal-native AI tools, and the lessons learned from shipping code on the side.

What to Expect in Your Inbox

Once a week (or thereabouts), you'll receive a short, scannable note containing:

  • Data Strategy: Practical patterns for Databricks and Snowflake, omnichannel data, and launch readiness playbooks.
  • AI Tooling & Automation: Real workflows using Claude, custom agents, and Model Context Protocol — not empty tech demos.
  • Builder Life: Updates, open betas, and lessons learned from the side projects I'm active on.

I write for smart peers. You won't get corporate buzzwords, spam, or multi-page code dumps here. Just clean, get-started snippets and practical insights from active deployments.

The Side Project Sandbox

  • Live Portfolio — Home base, career log, and resume.
  • AURABLOX — AI application studio for enterprise generative workflows.
  • OpenTutor + Vibe — Parent-supervised AI homeschool with Discord classrooms.
  • OpenCrush — Metric-forward dating UI on Firebase.
  • motion — WebGL shaders and custom UI sandboxes.

Enhance Your Business: Deploying Claude & Codex

If you get nothing else from these notes, the most useful thing I can do is spark your interest in agentic coders like Claude Code or Codex. These terminal-native tools can radically change how you execute automation.

Claude Code

A terminal assistant that can edit code, run tests, and search codebases locally. Docs

npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code
claude

OpenAI Codex CLI

An AI-powered terminal manager. Learn more

Get Started Now

  1. Interact with the agents: Hop into the Discord classroom and ping the tutor bots or @Hermes.
  2. Play with the visuals: Check out the Motion sandbox.
  3. Launch your own coder: npx @open-code/cli dev

Hit reply and say hello — I read and reply to every email. Let me know what you're currently building or what data bottleneck you're trying to solve.
